Laminate bathroom floors: a tragedy in the making

Any owner who has taken the path of DIY must know that the tiles he uses for the bathroom must be chosen carefully. And why not? From all areas of the house, the bathroom must be the most difficult to work, thanks (or not) to moisture.

The answer is yes and no

Can you use laminate floors for your bathroom? Of course! But is it the best material for this field? No, I’m sorry I was so direct, but there is no way to explain the facts. Then, for carpets and solid wood, laminates are the worst options for the floor of your bathroom.

You see, the laminate has a base of wood chips. It is true that its wear layer is resistant and surprisingly resistant. But that does not change the fact that, at the moment when the humidity can go down, it will eventually come into contact with the base of the wood chips. When this happens, the base expands and explodes. The only way to solve the problem later would be to tear the material.

Now, do not make mistakes. I am a fan of laminates. Laminates are tough, cheap and beautiful. They also look like cherry, slate, oak or marble. In addition, they will serve you well for a long time. I do not think this is the best floor option for your bathroom. If you ask me, this title goes to ceramic tile, but I will have to create another article to explain why.

In the meantime, I suggest you explore in-depth your mosaic options before engaging in a material that you may regret later. There is nothing cheap in home improvement projects.
